Brows are Sisters, Not Twins

You’ve probably heard that your brows are meant to be sisters, not twins. During your ombré brow appointment, I will aim for the illusion of symmetry while mapping your brows. But it’s important to understand that your brows can never truly be symmetrical. Here are the top reasons:

  • More muscle movement in one brow vs. the other

  • Asymmetrical bone structure or skin volume

It’s completely normal to have asymmetrical features! I noticed one of my ears was higher than the other when I was about 8 years old. If you have more muscle movement on one side, that brow will appear higher. If your brow bone is flatter on the other side, that brow will appear lower.

I may have to remove a bit of hair from either side if your asymmetry is very pronounced. This helps bring them into balance. You’ll have to maintain your look with a razor, tweezing, waxing, or threading. But don’t worry—I’ll always get your approval first!

It’s crucial that you come into your ombré brow appointment with realistic expectations. Please don’t treat the mirror like a microscope. Give yourself some grace. And hey, if Beyonce’s brows can be asymmetrical, the rest of us are beautiful just as we are.
