Why do I need a touch-up so soon?

Ombré brows last 1-3 to three years—a lot longer than any makeup you could ever apply, but not as long as traditional tattoos do. So it’s easy to wonder why you’d need a “touch-up” just 6-8 weeks after your first session.

The answer is simple: There’s no way to predict how the pigment will take to your skin the first time. Unlike the skin on your body, the skin on your is constantly on the move. If you have oily skin, it’s constantly pushing sebum out—and that’s the exact direction we don’t want your pigment to go so soon! Some people’s immune systems recognize pigment as an invader faster than others’, too.

So this is why you come in for a second ombré brow session so soon after your brows have healed. It’s very likely you’ll have gaps left in spots where pigment didn’t take. Though there’s still no way to predict pigment retention, we’ll take care of those gaps at your second session. It’s just like painting your nails—two coats look better than one.

The other benefit of having a second session is that if you want to go bigger or bolder, you absolutely can. Just know that we can never shrink your brows at a touch-up. That would require removal, and that’s a whole other story.

One last thing to note: Some people may not need a touch-up at all, and this is totally OK. If you’re happy with your shape and density, you’re good to go. But the majority of people will need one. The good part? We won’t be starting from scratch!
